I'm Rachel (aka Catty). My family and I run this thing, and we are so happy you're here!

I'm a multidisciplinary artist based just outside Atlanta, GA. I'm a professional graphic designer, and outside of "work," I live like a cat with 9 lives. I love shooting pool and long walks on Edgewood Avenue (IYKYK).

Our family has a bunch of weird pets and creative people. We launched this venture when we moved to a new place and established our first Critter Room. We're passionate about fun and nature, and curious and weird people are our people.

I realized I haven't posted my critter room in a hot minute so here it is!! So much work goes into this hobby that it's really more of a lifestyle at this point. 😅

I am blessed to have been able to realize my childhood dream like this. All you folks who tried to fill your bedroom with animals as a kid - I see you. I AM you. And I wish you all the same luck in one day getting your own dedicated space for your pets. 💕✨️

I have gone from one sheet on a clipboard to building a custom web app to track everyone's feedings, growth, water/humidity, temps, and other data. 📊

It's an ongoing process and always evolving. If anyone has tips on how you manage your critter care I'd really love to hear them!👂

Finally got up the courage to rehouse Apple Bottom Jean, my stromatopelma calceatum (Featherleg Baboon tarantula). As usual, I used @tarantulacollective's care sheet for her new enclosure upgrade, but reading Richard's notes scared the 💩 out of me 😭
🔥Stromatopelma calceatum is one of the fastest and most defensive tarantulas in the hobby.
🔥It will strike repeatedly if provoked.
🔥Bites can cause severe pain, muscle cramping, fever-like symptoms, nausea, and intense swelling.
🔥Handling is strongly discouraged.
🔥 When disturbed, it will either bolt at high speeds or attack instantly.

Luckily she was calmer than I expected and walked right into her new digs and let me get some glamour shots. 😍

There's SO MUCH INFO to absorb. It can be overwhelming. But it's a lifelong pursuit imo, keep learning and growing.
