Flightless fruit flies are a pain in the @$&!. This helps. 
 
Unscrew the lid, insert a wide mouth funnel, and dump in as many fruit flies as you need. Quickly screw the lid back on. Then let the flies collect in the modified tip, open the cap, and gently squeeze or shake them out.
