Isopods are essential for bioactive habitats, breaking down waste, recycling nutrients, and supporting a healthy ecosystem. Armadillidium maculatum require an intermediate level of care and serve as both cleaners and feeders.
 
Conditions: 75°F–85°F; 35%–65% humidity
Substrate: Organic soil with leaf litter, hardwood, and sphagnum moss
Diet: Decaying plants, vegetables (squash, carrots, cucumber), calcium (eggshells, cuttlebone)
Benefits: Waste cleanup, soil enrichment, microorganism seeding, live food source
Culturing: Ventilated container, 2–4” organic substrate, leaf litter, consistent moisture
 
All isopods are shipped in sphagnum moss with leaf litter and with food, ready to establish on arrival. Groups will include a mix of juveniles and adults for a stable colony.
